The standard

Judged in week three, not in the mirror.

Any cut can look sharp for a day. Ours are built to grow out properly: weight in the right places, necklines that fade rather than fail, and a photo of your last cut on file so you never have to describe it twice.

That is the whole trick, and it is why the Saturday book fills by Wednesday.

The chairs

Four barbers. No strangers on your head.

Joe Fairburn

Founder, master barber

Fifteen years on the chair, first five in a Sheffield shop where the queue went round the block. Judges every cut by how it grows out in week three.

Sam Okonkwo

Co-founder, fade specialist

The reason half of York's football teams have sharper heads than touch. Keeps a photo ledger of every fade he has rated ten out of ten. There are four.

Priya Chauhan

Barber, shave specialist

Trained in traditional wet shaving and quietly evangelical about it. Strops her own razors and will not be rushed, which is exactly what you want.

Callum Wray

Apprentice

Makes the best brew in the shop and knows it. On sweeping, gowns and buzz cuts now; first full chair day pencilled for spring 2027.

Word of mouth

What the regulars say.

Been going since they opened and I have never once had to explain what I want twice. Joe remembers your head better than you do.
Daniel Whitaker · Regular since 2017
Took my lad for his first proper fade and Sam treated it like a cup final. Photo on the wall, the lot. Customer for life now.
Marcus Bell · Heworth
The hot towel shave before my wedding was the calmest forty five minutes of the whole month. Should be on prescription.
Tom Ashworth · Married August 2025
